Supporting teachers and youth workers to promote and protect Youth Mental Health at School – YAMH

As mentioned by the World Health Organization (WHO): Well-being and a positive mental health status are key aspects of human life. Exposure to adverse experiences and situations in childhood and adolescence can significantly affect mental well-being many years into the future and result in exposure to other established risk factors in adulthood, such as unemployment, debt, and social exclusion. The role of the school in the development of the young people is crucial, in this framework, teachers and youth workers are recognized as the professionals with daily contact with the adolescents. The European Erasmus+ KA2 Project aims to equip these professionals to promote and protect youth mental health at school, to tackle the aforementioned risks.

The professionals will be trained to:
- identify and interpret key mental health issues and disorders’ early signs
- combat the stigma on mental health disorders through the enhancement of help-seeking
- build up resilience by addressing the social and interpersonal skills, the cognitive skills as well as the emotional coping skills of the adolescents

The target group of the project is school teachers and youth workers. The final beneficiaries are school students.

- A training curriculum on youth mental health promotion and protection at school through life-skills approach
- An online platform of open educational resources
- Guidelines and recommendations on promotion and protection of youth mental health at schools
